Description:

Abstract:

Digital representation of street centerlines of Union County. The current centerline data is based on 2007 aerial photography and is maintained and updated by the GIS department of Union County, NC.

Purpose:

This dataset was developed primarily for use in the Computer Aided Dispatch software. It is also used by county and municipal staff to plan and assist the citizens of Union County and its' jurisdictions. Centerline information is also made available to the public through the online mapping application.

Centerline data was created by Spatial Data of High Point, NC in 2007. Internal quality checks were performed by the GIS department of Union County, NC.

Completeness_Report:

This dataset contains all known road centerlines at the time that Orthophotography was obtained of the county in February 2007. Thus, roads constructed after this date may be missing from the data. The GIS Department of Union County has been continually updating this data by adding new roads developed since the time of the aerial photography through the use of a GPS unit.
